Allie is 2 Months Old

Smiley girl! Love her dimples. I need to get John to take a portrait of her where you can see them.

2 months!  Time is flying by.  Allie’s latest stats are 14.4lbs and 24 3/4″.  She’s huge!

Allie’s definitely a morning baby.  Happy and smiley and giggly every morning.  Guess she takes after me because I’m a morning person (Charlie and John are night owls).  However, Allie still has a bit of colic in the evenings, but it’s nothing that we can’t handle.

She loves to talk to us.  I think with the rest of us talking she’s trying to make herself heard.

Playing on her floor mat is one of her favorite things to do.  She is so mobile for someone who can’t roll or crawl.  You put her down in one position and the next thing you know, she’s across the mat!

There’s that smile! Too bad I couldn’t get her hands down.

Allie’s absolute favorite thing to do is to stand.  With support under her arms, she loves to stand up.  We’re pretty sure we’re going to end up with an early walker.

(The picture has nothing to do with this post )

Sometime over the past few weeks Charlie must have overheard John use the word dump.

I went to use the bathroom today and this is what Charlie said to me.

“Mommy!  You taking a dump? P U!”

P.S. I wasn’t.

Getting Rid of Excuses

Of course, once I started running last week, I was able to come up with a ton of excuses as to why I couldn’t continue.  The first one was legitimate.  The weather went up into the 90s with extreme humidity.  Not good for starting to run.  But then, my excuse became that I couldn’t run when the girls were home so I had to get up early to run.  Unfortunately, it’s really dark at 6:30 in the morning, so that wasn’t happening.  Too dark to run in the park – who knows what people/animals lurk there in the dark.

But, I realized that I couldn’t keep making excuses.  As I lay in bed unable to sleep I was thinking – What age does Allie have to be in order to use my BOB stroller for running?  I looked it up.  Guess what!  As long as she’s in her car seat with the adapter and I’m not running on rough terrain, I can run with her now.

So, that’s what we did yesterday.  Once the rain stopped, we went out for our first run together.

Stats for the first run with a stroller

This was the first time that I’ve ever used my jogging stroller for running!  And, it went pretty well.  My arms are sore from pushing it (even though it’s really easy to push), but that’s just a bonus exercise thrown in.

Fall is (Unofficially) Here!

Yesterday was a beautiful fall-like day.  Low 70s and sunny.  Just gorgeous.  We decided that Charlie needed to get out of the house and run off some energy, so we went to a nearby farm, Springdale Farm, where they have a corn maze.  The maze just opened on Friday, so everything was still very neat at this point.  We also figured that most people aren’t thinking Halloween yet, so the maze would be pretty empty – and it was.

Chasing after John

Figuring out where to go

Riding on Daddy’s shoulders

We finished it!

We made it through the maze with only a few wrong turns here and there.  We had a great time!  And it did its job.  Charlie was seriously pooped by the time we finished.

Dance Class

Charlie’s dance class started up tonight.   It teaches the basics of ballet, tap, and jazz, and even has a spring recital.  Yikes, this is real dance class, which means that my baby, she’s growing up!

Charlie has to take her tap shoes to class with her, so she needed a bag.  This is her first backpack and I swear I’m not tearing up over here.

There are only five girls in the class, and Charlie is the youngest.  But, she’s the second tallest.

A Step (or 2) in the Right Direction

So, remember last year in my birthday post when I said I wanted to run a 5K?  I didn’t get to it last year mainly because I went ahead and got knocked up and had a kid.  But, I’ve been cleared to exercise (2 weeks ago, but then I threw out my back) and I am going to finish this goal.

I took a big step and signed up for the Flyers 5K in October (10/26).  No, I haven’t become a Flyers fan, the Penguins still have my hockey loyalty, however small it may be, since I don’t like hockey.  My brother in law is going to run with me, so I’ve also added in some peer pressure.

Today, I took the next big step.  I went out and started the C25K program.  I haven’t worked out in a very long time,  so this step was massive.  I think I did ok.

But then on my walk home, I tripped over a piece of sidewalk that was raised about 6″ by a tree root.  The outcome was a little nasty.

That’s my knee.  It’s bandaged up now and pretty sore (along with my right hand and elbow which look similar).  But, I’m not going to let this deter me.  I’m determined to get rid of this extra weight and this is my start.

Morning Snack Art

Or is it?  I’ve been a little bored packing Charlie’s lunch lately, or maybe I’m just losing my mind.  So, I started drawing on the skin of the banana, which I’ve been packing for her morning snack.  Here’s today’s picture.

Hopefully she likes it.  All I know is that I’d better not try to get a job as an artist.

Just Your Average Funny #2

We went to Storybook land last week.  Charlie and I rode the roller coaster together, then John and I switched off so that I could feed Allie while he rode with Charlie.

As they approached the end of the line,  Charlie stopped, looked at John, and said, “Let’s Do This Thing!”  All while making an angry fist.  John couldn’t stop laughing at her.
