So Not Ready for the Snow

See that picture that I just posted?  Notice the white circles that I put around things on the windshield?  What did I circle?  Those are big old snowflakes.  Snowflakes!  On November 12!  What in the world?  It feels like autumn just got here and we’re already settling in for winter.  Yuck!  I am not ready for snow.  When will I be ready for snow?  Well, a covering on the morning of December 25 would be nice, but not before.

Fortunately, we’re just getting flurries.  The ground is too warm for any of this to stick.  Still, the commute was bad because give us any sort of precipitation and people suddenly forget how to drive their cars.  Charlie was excited to see the snow, but not excited when she found out that it meant she had to wear her winter coat.  Hopefully, once winter really sets in, you know, in January or February, we’ll get some snow for her to play in since the last two years have been a bust.

A Little New Crochet

Charlie needed a new hat.  she only had one winter hat that I had picked up at Target early in the year, I think back in November.  I thought we could do something fun, so I took her to A.C. Moore and left her pick out her own yarn (with a little influence as I needed the right weight yarn).    She picked out a nice rainbow variegated yarn (I don’t have the cuff with me right now, so I can’t link to it – I’ll edit this post later).

I first decided to knit the same hat I made her when she was a baby because it was so darn cute and it would keep her ears warm.

However, something went very wrong.  I was working on it at in the middle of the night, probably between 2 and 4 in the morning, because I couldn’t sleep.  I’ve since realized that I shouldn’t work on anything that requires gauge in the middle of the night.  Let’s just say that the hat was too big for even my swelled head.

So, that required making a new hat.  I had more than enough yarn, so I started a new hat, choosing to crochet this time.  Here’s the hat I ended up making.

It’s really hard to get her to stop for pictures anymore.  She wants to use the camera herself.
