Disney Vacation – Part 4 – Halloween!

My favorite Charlie pic from vacation

Our last full day in WDW was Halloween.  We’d bought tickets for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom for the evening, so we decided that that is where we would spend most of our day.  We’d done the MNSSHP before (2009), and loved it! But that wasn’t on Halloween.  We didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into, but that’s for later in this post.

We started the day off at the Contemporary Resort for breakfast at Chef Mickey’s.  One super nice thing about this was that we were able to park in the resort lot, instead of parking in the Magic Kingdom lot.  Saved some cash 🙂  We’d heard some nice things about Chef Mickey’s, and it was a lot of fun for Charlie.  The big problem though was that we had a 10:30 reservation, but didn’t get seated until 11:15.  That’s a long time for a toddler to wait for food and to hang out in a lobby.  I know that they can’t push people out of their tables, but you would think that they would be better about dealing with this.

The best thing about Chef Mickey’s?  Getting to see all the big name characters again, of course!

Not too impressed with Goofy

Hi there, Mickey!

Why’s Donald here?

Bye, Donald!

Minnie!

Pluto!

After breakfast we headed over to the Magic Kingdom using the resort monorail.

I’ve always loved this sign.

This will forever be known as the day that Charlie slept through Pirates of the Caribbean and 2, yes 2, parades!

Don’t you just love the holiday decorations?

The nice thing about MK, Charlie can ride almost everything!

First ride on the teacups!

Prince Charming’s Golden Carousel (The horses are from the Philadelphia Toboggan Company)

She even got to ride Snow White’s Scary Adventures, which is bittersweet since it’s now closed forever.

I’m glad she got to ride it, even if she won’t remember it.  We will.

Cinderella’s castle even gets dressed up for Halloween!

At MNSSHP there are special shows, parades, and dance parties.  They also have lots of trick or treating stations so that you get to take home TONS of candy.  This was Charlie’s first Halloween, and she went as her favorite princess, Snow White.  (BTW, we think she’s going to be a Storm Trooper this year!)

Just after riding Dumbo

During the party parade, there is special emphasis placed on Halloween costumes, special scary guests, and villains!  The party was fun, just as we remembered it from 2009.  The only thing we didn’t like was that because we went on Halloween, it was packed!  So many people.  In 2009, we went on November 1st and it was empty.  That would be my advice, don’t go on Halloween.

Good-bye Disney World and Orlando!  See you in a few months!
